LSA Moves Forward On Massive Turner and Glenbrook Field Improvements

If you've been following us on Facebook, (and if you haven't been, what have you been waiting for!??  Get over there now and Follow us!) you know that we've begun a long-needed project to improve our field conditions around town.

Over the summer, volunteers have spread over 12 tons of high-quality infield material across the two fields at Glenbrook and our field at Turner.  Secured job boxes have been installed at both locations and equipment has been purchased to help in field maintenance at both fields including rakes, drag mats and field liners.

These improvements were made possible by volunteers, the LSA Board and our partners at the Longmeadow Parks and Rec Department.

Rest assured, this is only the beginning.

The LSA is submitted an application for a 2019 CPA Grant to the Longmeadow Community Preservation Committee which will be voted on in upcoming Town Meeting. The focus of the grant is to improve conditions at Turner Field where the disparity between playing conditions for baseball and softball are most evident in town. We hope to improve ballpark quality, maintenance and safety and hope to use funding for dugouts, fencing and bleachers at Turner as well as maintenance equipment that can be used for all fields in the complex.

Be sure to follow us on Facebook and check back here often for updates on the process, and feel free to check out the completed application here
